Not Just Armcandy


   As a business, especially a small business, we try to turn to small shops for our personal shopping. Yes, we STILL have to purchase some things. I am not going to pretend that I am good at making jewelry. It has NEVER been a strong point on my end...and I always feel like it isn't good enough.
  Since I am not so jewelry handy....but love accessorizing, I am always on the look out. I am picky though when it comes to jewelry. Most people are, but I take a lot into consideration. Is it a small business? Can I wear it all the time or at least most of the time? Is it able to hold up with my 2 kids, 2 dogs and farm life? Is it affordable (without looking cheap)? Does it show my personality? Is it meaningful? And finally...a HUGE bonus for whenever companies do things like this...charity!
   Normally, I can find the businesses that are handmade and have the personal touch...but they all seem to be lacking in one or more areas in my 'pickiness'. But, things have changed. There is one business that has me gushing over their products, their personable attitude, their kindness towards charity and their determination! Can you believe it? This business hit all my picky questions.

   Enter...Isle Coast. To say the least, I am impressed. This is the first time I tried their 'I Care' line of bracelets and it's not just about what it looks like, but the meaning behind it. This is a new line of bracelets that all represent a different ocean conservation organization. For each bracelet that this amazing small business owner sells, 20% of the net profit is then donated to that listed organization.
  So the green one that I am sporting (pretty much everyday) goes towards the Sea Turtle Conservation and is made out of 100% hemp cord.
   The other bracelet I am wearing (which is what I wear when I am not wearing the green one)...is a beautiful color of turquoise with a white/clear sea glass. The amazing organization this one supports is Oceana. The Oceana bracelet shows your support for ocean life and ecosystems. It's 100% waterproof, made with surf cord and is wax coated as well for extra protection. It's perfect. It's beautiful. 
   These bracelets are comfortable, easy to put on (with their adjustable strings) and let's be honest....looks good on my skin. HAHA. Bonus, it keeps my 1 yr old busy while she's in my arms and my almost 5 year old LOVES it too. The ocean/beach is my serenity, so this fits my personality and I cannot stress enough the amazing fact that it's for good causes. It's affordable without looking cheap.

Delicious Chewy Brownies

Ok, I know....WHY OH WHY am I doing this to you? You're trying to be healthy. You're trying to fit into your skinnies this year. Let me tell you...yes, these have sugar. Yes, these have cocoa powder. Yes, there is some flour....but they are DELICIOUS. AND...if this helps, we cut the sugar down from the original called amount and cut the cocoa powder too, because...hold on to your panties....our kids aren't big on anything that is 'too' sweet. Ya, don't even worry about reading that last part over again....you read it right. What you need: - 3/4 c unsweetened cocoa powder - 1 1/2 c sugar - 3/4 c melted butter - 2 eggs - 1 c flour (i used unbleached) - 2 tsp vanilla - 1/4 tsp salt (suggest not doing if your butter is salted) What to do: 1) Preheat oven to 300 degrees. 2) Mix all the dry ingredients together. 3) Make sure butter is completely melted and put all the wet ingredients together and mix. 4) pour wet slowly into the dry ...

   I am anxious to see who will actually read this, because while I think it's super important....people don't like back story. So, why in the hell am I spending time on a blog that is going to have the throw down truth in it about my business?
